Patient Care Unit


The Patient Care Unit is the 25-bed department for hospital inpatients. The staff cares for more than 1,600 patients yearly. Admissions include injured or sick patients admitted through the Emergency Department, general surgery and orthopedic surgery patients admitted following scheduled procedures, and patients with a wide range of illnesses who were admitted by their private physicians.

The unit opened in 2015. Nine-point-five million dollars of the cost of the $12.5 million-project to build and equip the unit was funded by a low-interest loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. It is named for longtime Dosher general surgeon Robert M. Zukoski, MD.
